NaviSite installs Newton's anti-tailgating technology at its newest Silicon Valley data center
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – August 4, 2015 - NaviSite, a Time Warner Cable (TWC) company and a leading international provider of enterprise-class, cloud-enabled hosting and managed applications, has outfitted its newest data center, located Santa Clara, California, with a high-security T-DAR Mantrap Shield system. This advanced, single-person detection technology, developed by Newton Security Inc., prevents the physical threats of tailgating and piggybacking and meets the high physical security requirements of Department of Defense FISMA standards.
NaviSite had the Newton mantrap system installed, along with other major improvements, into leased space within an existing SSAE 16 certified facility owned by Digital Realty, a data center solution provider. The facility undergoes a stringent SOC2 audit on a yearly basis to ensure on-site procedures and security elements, like the T-DAR controlled mantrap, meet industry standards.
The T-DAR Mantrap Shield is a combination of stereo vision hardware and sophisticated Newton-developed software which works in concert with the hardware and software of new or existing security systems to create a secured space between a pair of T-DAR controlled electronically interlocking doors. The T-DAR system identifies tags and tracks the human form within the mantrap, insuring that there is only one person present, while ignoring carts, luggage or parcels in their possession. Tailgating and piggybacking attempts are blocked by the automatic scanning of the mantrap before the first door is locked, followed by unlocking the door into the secure area for that transit only.
