A federal court has decided that a suit filed by Tyco Fire & Security off alleged patent infringement will go forward. Defendant WG Security had petitioned the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to dismiss the case or transfer it to the District Court for the Central District of California, but the court has denied that motion.
The suit, which was filed in April of 2004, charges WG Security with infringing on Tyco's Sensormatic patents. The patent infringement applies to the technology found in some of WG Security's EAS tags and EAS detection systems. Tyco's suit also lists as a defendant the company EAS Sensorsense, a distributor of WG Security's products.
