Wal-Mart Worker Charged with Stealing More than $100K in Electronics
LAURENS, S.C. (AP) - A Wal-Mart distribution center worker has been charged with taking more than $110,000 worth of electronics equipment from the center and selling it, Laurens County Sheriff's Office investigators said.
Thomas Coleman, 41, faces six counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent.
Authorities said security cameras caught Coleman taking the consumer electronics from the center.
"He's taken mostly laptop computers, digital cameras and camcorders," Chief Deputy Eddie Smith said in a release. "I've seen employees involved in theft within a place of employment. This amount is an extensive amount."
The sheriff's office has not recovered any of the equipment.
If convicted, Coleman faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence on each charge.
