ADT to close Nebraska monitoring center

Operations to be consolidated into other facilities

According to a story from WOWT, an NBC news affiliate in Omaha, Neb., ADT Security Services is planning to close its monitoring center in Papillion, Neb. Operations from that call center will be consolidated in with operations at other ADT call locations around the United States. Papillion is a city located southwest of Omaha which is considered part of the Omaha suburbs.

The closing will affect 380 jobs and WOWT reports that these layoffs will be completed in March 2009, although affected employees will be invited to apply for available jobs at other ADT locations.

Ann Lindstrom, ADT Security Services media relations contact, told WOWT-TV that, "This transition will be invisible to ADT customers much like during a significant event such as a hurricane or blizzard that impacts one of our centers." Monitoring and call centers are typically designed with fail-over redundancy and such consolidations can generally be easily accommodated, especially for firms with multiple locations around the U.S. like ADT.
