Wadsworth, Ohio, Adopts Alarm Ordinance

Stronger ordinance is designed to help reduce false alarms; allows for revocation of permit

Wadworth, Ohio's City Council has voted to adopt a new alarm ordinance that is designed to affect the number of false alarms the city's police department has to deal with.

According to a report in the Akron Beacon Journal, the ordinance will apply fees after two false alarms in a year's time, with fines starting at $150.

The fee schedule is as follows:

  • First and second false alarm: Free
  • Third and fourth false alarm: $150 each
  • Fifth false alarm: $250
  • Sixth false alarm: $500
  • Seventh false alarm: Revocation of alarm permit

The city currently requires owners of alarm systems to have a permit on file.
