NORTHFORD, Conn., February 8, 2013 - Gamewell-FCI by Honeywell (NYSE: HON) plans to host a series of seminars aimed to educate engineers, facility managers, security directors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) on emergency management planning, response and the most effective use of mass notification technologies. These free, half-day seminars include lunch, plus 4.0 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for all attendees.
Following information and guidelines within NFPA 1600: Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs, attendees will be walked through the initial emergency management planning process as well as the evaluation of current procedures. How to perform a risk assessment, identifying the stakeholders, plan implementation, conducting training exercises and refining emergency management plans will also be covered. The relevance of statues such as the SAFETY Act and the Clery Act will be explained, along with lessons-learned from real-life scenarios.
The dissemination of communications and warnings to individuals in and around buildings is a critical component of emergency management. Considering the countless technologies currently marketed as mass notification or emergency communications systems (ECS), this seminar will assess the capabilities, supervision and survivability of these various technologies in relation to UL 2572. The new UL 2572 standard mandates the equipment testing and performance standards for mass notification systems. Indoor audio announcements, outdoor sirens, emails, text messages, computer pop-ups and visual signage are just a few of the technologies to be discussed.
Following this half-day seminar is a complimentary lunch, during which Gamewell-FCI will preview a revolutionary new fire alarm system, built to be more user-friendly with an intuitive touch-screen display. The new S3 Series™ small addressable fire alarm system answers facility managers’ calls for a reliable fire alarm system that is both easy to operate and maintain.
Seminars are currently planned for Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Texas and Washington.
