NFPA Elects New Officers and Directors at 2025 Annual Meeting
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) announced the results of its Board of Directors election, held during the association’s Annual Meeting on June 16. The results include the naming of one new officer, one new director, the election of one new member, and the reelection of three members to new terms.
Mariana Ruiz-Temple, Oregon State Fire Marshal, was elected by NFPA members to her first three-year term on the Board. With more than 30 years in public safety, she is recognized for her expertise in fire service operations, emergency management and strategic partnerships. Ruiz-Temple oversees statewide efforts to reduce deaths and property loss from fires, explosions and hazardous materials incidents. She also manages multi-agency collaborations, advises legislators on fire-related policies and represents Oregon in regional and national initiatives. Most recently, she served on the Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission, helping provide Congress with recommendations on federal wildfire prevention, suppression and post-fire land rehabilitation.
Michael Snyder was elected by the Board to serve a one-year term. He began his fire service career in Aquashicola, Pa., later joining the Auburn, Mich., department where he became Fire Marshal in 2011. Snyder worked for Dow Corning Corp. in fire and life safety roles for three decades, serving as global director of safety, industrial hygiene and loss prevention from 2008 to 2016. He is currently vice president of Operational Risk Management at DEKRA Process Safety.
Three current Board members were reelected to three-year terms. They are H. Butch Browning, executive director of the National Association of State Fire Marshals; Adrián Gallardo Landeros, general director of Servicios de Información Estratégica (SIE Consultories); and Mark Ghilarducci, CEO of Emergent Global Solutions. Each has served on the Board since 2022.
Dr. Reginald Freeman was elected by the Board to a one-year term as treasurer. Freeman, a Board member since 2018, previously served as assistant treasurer.
All other officers and directors will continue in their current roles.
