Z-Wave Alliance Update with Avi Rosenthal
Avi Rosenthal, Chairman of the Z-Wave Alliance, caught up with Security Business editor Paul Rothman live on the CES show floor to chat about the Z-Wave innovations that matter to the security industry, as well as an update on the NextNav conflict over the 900 mhZ band.
Haptic Glove from TDK and WEART may be a Game-Changer for Security Training
Expert security technology consultant Pierre Bourgeix had a chance to demo an amazing haptic glove from TDK Corporation live on the show floor during CES. Coupled with a virtual environment, the glove enabled Pierre to truly feel the items he was touching, as well as elemental factors like heat and cold. He explained how this technology could be a game-changer for security integration companies looking to standardize their training methods for field installers.
The glove itself, TouchDIVER Pro, was developed and produced by WEART, a company specializing in haptic solutions, in partnership with TDK, which provides the glove's PowerHap actuators. These actuators are a crucial component in generating vibrations for texture rendering, machinery interaction, and notifications. https://weart.it
Battery-free Smart Lock Demo from Gemns
We caught up with Gemns (formerly WePower) at CES to see a quick demo of its energy harvesting technology embedded in a Southco lock. The company aims to use this technology to eventually eliminate batteries in a wide range of devices relevant to the security and smart home markets.
Kudelski Labs Cybersecurity Demo with a Robotic Dog
In its CES debut, Kudelski Labs, the innovation arm of the Kudelski Group, showcased advances in embedded security from chip to cloud designed to help semiconductor manufacturers address new security challenges. In this live demo, they used a robotic dog to demonstrate how their embedded security and cybersecurity capabilities are used to control the robotic unit.
From the company: Kudelski Labs will showcase its autonomous robotic dog, KLARQ, as a live demonstration of how embedded security underpins the future of Edge AI. The exhibit will feature KLARQ equipped with Kudelski Labs' AI-accelerated security stack, seamlessly integrated with Axelera AI's Metis AIPU for on-device inference. This collaboration highlights secure activation, real-time threat detection, and compliance-ready design in a tangible, autonomous use case, reinforcing the message that security must be foundational, not an afterthought, for next-generation AI-powered systems.
