Power company budgets security spending for facilities and offices
ALBANY -- The New York Power Authority will spend $ 15 million in the second phase of a project to improve security at the agency's facilities and offices statewide.

NYPA's trustees approved the expenditure during a meeting Tuesday.

During the first phase, NYPA spent $ 13 million for additional physical barriers, perimeter fence and gate modifications and changes to access control and lighting.

The second phase augments those measures with further redundancies. Details of the improvements were unavailable.

NYPA began the project after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington.
