Privatizing of Screeners Decision Delayed at Denver International Airport

Federal guidelines on privatization aren't detailed enough says DIA co-manager
Nov. 12, 2004

Denver International Airport co- manager Vicki Braunagel says new federal guidelines on privatizing security screeners aren't detailed enough, so the airport isn't likely to decide for months on whether to take over screening at the airport. DIA is considering using private screeners again, despite problems with them in the past because it fears the federal government won't add screeners fast enough to keep up with growing numbers of passengers, Braunagel said. But it's not clear whether privatization proposed by the federal government would solve DIA's problem with security lines.
