Suspect reportedly scaled fence, jumped on plane's wing prior to being detained

A man who appeared to be wearing only underwear ran across the taxiway at the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport toward a Delta flight from Miami, according to news reports and video shared on social media.

The airport, via Twitter, originally confirmed that a "passenger exited an aircraft stopped on a taxiway after arrival shortly before 5 p.m." Tuesday. But later said there were conflicting reports as to how the man got on the runway.

The man was identified by Atlanta police as 19-year-old Jhryin Jones, 19, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The newspaper said Jones scaled a fence, ran toward the plane and jumped on the wing.

Video shot by other passengers shows the man, who didn't have shoes on, dashing through the restricted area of the runway.

The airport said operations were not affected.

There was a Delta aircraft taxiing to the terminal at the time Jones got into the restricted area.

Jones was charged with criminal trespassing, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
