In 2025, the number of newly disclosed common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) is projected to hit as many as 50,000, most labeled high or critical. Yet more visibility hasn’t translated into better outcomes. Security teams remain overwhelmed, firefighting across massive vulnerability backlogs while trying to satisfy boards, auditors and insurers that they’re secure.
This overload is amplified by the constantly expanding and dynamic digital estate that adversaries target. Hybrid IT, cloud and operational technology (OT) environments shift daily, making static vulnerability lists even less reliable for real-world defenses. Start small, scale quickly
Exposure validation doesn’t require a full program overhaul. Most organizations start with one or two specific use cases, such as validating EDR coverage, testing segmentation boundaries, or filtering VM data based on exploitability.
As results accumulate, so does internal momentum. With fewer false positives, faster fixes and clearer outcomes, teams gain the evidence they need to expand validation across more assets and teams. Over time, this leads to tighter collaboration between SOC, infrastructure, risk and compliance functions.
Defend with confidence
Security teams lack clarity with data. Exposure validation provides that clarity by putting vulnerability findings into motion, showing what attackers could do and whether defenses can stop them. It doesn’t replace your scanners or scorecards, but it makes them actionable. And in a threat landscape where confidence is currency, evidence beats guesswork every time.
