Alabama Lands $1.4 Million DHS Grant

Money earmarked for protection of state's critical infrastructure

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) announced that Alabama has been awarded a $1.4 million DHS grant for the protection of the state's critical infrastructure.

The grant, part of the DHS Buffer Zone Protection Program, provides funding to law enforcement to prevent against terrorist attacks. Facilities such as water utilities, transportation systems, financial services, national monuments, energy facilities, government facilities and dams are given high priorit for the funding.

According to Sessions, the funding can be used on a variety of technologies, including detection systems, communications systems, physical security tools and background systems.
