UK hospital undergoes Ł1M security improvement project

130 CCTV cameras installed as part of security upgrade

SECURITY will be improved in the new extension of a Newcastle hospital after a Ł1m contract was agreed.

An impressive 130 CCTV cameras will be installed at the RVI as the development takes shape.

The Ł408,000 deal has been agreed between Newcastle NHS Trust and 2020 Vision, based in North Shields. The firm has also secured a Ł415,000 upgrade of the existing system at the hospital, plus a Ł240,000 contract to develop a Trust-wide security pass system.

It is hoped the new measures will create a safer environment for patients and staff.

Robin Smith, estates consultant for the Trust said: "The key aim of this project is to ensure that the RVI Hospital provides a safe, secure and pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Managing director of 2020 Vision, Peter Houlis said "We are delighted to have begun work on such a prestigious contract."
