Vice Adm. J. Kevin Moran Brings Naval Command, Business Acumen

CENTREVILLE, Va., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ UNITECH(R), a world-class leader in interactive training, simulation and security solutions, announced today that it has named retired Navy Vice Admiral J. Kevin Moran to its Board of Directors.

Admiral Moran has more than 30 years experience in the Navy as an aviator and an innovative leader in training and education. He will help advance UNITECH on its training and simulation strategy.

Admiral Moran spearheaded a program that revolutionized the Navy's training and education programs. He helped the Navy move from a traditional classroom-based training environment toward a blended learning program that includes simulations and e-learning. Admiral Moran then worked diligently to link the Navy's new blended learning solutions to the Navy Mission-Essential Task List, detailing the skill sets needed for specific jobs in the fleet in order to better prepare sailors to serve in those positions and improve fleet readiness. Moran also introduced an integrated learning environment architecture and implemented a metrics system based on fleet readiness, individual performance and cost savings.

Moran's naval experience includes operational sea tours aboard the USS Talbot, USS Biddle, USS Brumby and USS Guam . He served as the operations officer and the officer-in-charge of HSL-34, Detachment 8 aboard the USS John Hancock and USS Vreeland, and as executive officer of the USS Inchon and USS Boxer.

His command tours include Commanding Officer of Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light 44, flying the SH-60B; Commanding Officer of the USS Boxer; Commander, Navy Region Southeast; Commander, Amphibious Group 2; Commander, Naval Personnel Development Command and Commander, Naval Education and Training Command. In addition, he served in Richmond , VA, and with the Commander Allied Forces Southern Europe/Commander in Chief US Naval Forces Europe in Naples , Italy . Moran is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD ; the Naval War College in Newport, RI; and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard School of Business. His awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal.
