ARLINGTON, Va., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The annual Air Force Association National Symposium on Space is set for November 16 in Beverly Hills , California.

This year's theme is "Space: Our Heritage, Our Future." Air Force leaders and other speakers will discuss challenges and highlight the contributions of space to our national security.

Speakers are Lt. Gen. Bob Kehler , designated Commander, Space Command; Gen. Kevin Chilton ; and Lt. Gen. Mike Hamel .

Presentations will explore space capabilities in the 21st century. Space technology provides vital missile launch warning, surveillance capability, severe weather tracking, precision navigation and communications. These space assets are essential to large-scale and precision military operations and to national security.

Following the Symposium, the Air Force Ball will be that evening, Friday, Nov. 16 . Proceeds of the Air Force Ball will support education initiatives. AFA works to encourage the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
