Barry Whitton
Barry Whitton started his career in public safety in 1979 as a dispatcher in the police department’s 911 Communications Section. Promoted to supervisor in 1995, Whitton managed the information technology (computer aided dispatch, 911 telephony) for the section. Currently, Whitton is assigned to the police department’s Technology and System Section and is managing the city’s CCTV video network which currently includes 100-plus citywide neighborhood public safety cameras and 100-plus Riverfront Banks Project Cameras in the Central Riverfront Garage as well as the entertainment district between the two sports venues. Whitton and his team are also managing the 30-plus regional port security cameras along the Ohio River, which currently cover 20 miles of the river.
