Former Lehman Brothers analyst to direct security industry investing bank

Jeff Kessler, a long-time security industry analyst who worked with Lehman Brothers until fairly recently, has been named the managing director of Imperial Capital, an investment bank that has heavily focused on the security industry.

Kesller started in the industry in 1983, handling financial research about the security industry for Argus Research, and then with Cowen & Co. He then spent 21 years working with Lehman Brothers as senior business services analyst. After Kessler and Lehman Brothers split ways earlier this year, Kessler launched his blog/media site, TheSecurityAnalyst.com, which provided an eyes-wide-open view of what was happening in the security industry in terms of financing, financial reports and large contracts.

His work as a financial analyst and expert has linked him with some of the top stock offerings and IPOs, including the recent ICX Technologies initial public stock offering. Kessler has also been part of the Security New Ground Conference with Sandra Jones & Company, and has published an annual financial report on the security industry.

On Sunday, he told readers of his blog at TheSecurityAnalyst.com that he would no longer be publishing to the blog, but would work with his new employer Imperial Capital to continue to provide similar content. The blog, he said, will soon point to financial information from Kessler that has been approved by Imperial's compliance group (financial company employees are subject to a number of compliance issues regarding what information they may provide).

Kessler will be based in New York; the company's website is www.imperialcapital.com.
