Oct. 22--A new office building may be built on Forest Hill Road if the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission approves a permit for the building.
A conditional-use permit for the proposed office building at 530 Forest Hill Road is on the agenda for Monday's P&Z meeting.
In 2005, P&Z agreed to rezone 520 and 530 Forest Hill Road from a single-family residential district to a multi-family residential district. It was noted at the time that while each property included an existing home, the dilapidated house at 530 Forest Hill would be demolished because of its condition.
The current permit, it approved, would allow a new 2,000-square-foot building to replace the current building which would be torn down, according to the commission's staff report.
"The (new) building will be residential in appearance to complement other structures in the vicinity," according to the report. "Building exteriors will be comprised of brick veneer to match the adjacent building at 520 Forest Hill Road."
The staff recommends approval of the land use only with final site plan and that the commission review the architectural plans for the building when completed.
The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at City Hall, 700 Poplar St.
