Security Dealer Publisher Peter Harlick announced today that the magazine, which is a sister publication of SecurityInfoWatch.com, has named a new editor.
Deborah O'Mara, an industry veteran who has covered the security market as well as the electrical contracting and building products markets, today formally accepted the leadership of Security Dealer magazine, which was founded in 1978 as a magazine to serve the growing burglar alarm industry with business tips and technology trends. The magazine has since grown to cover integrated systems, fire and life safety systems, video surveillance and other technologies heavily adopted by security installing and integration firms.
O'Mara's background in the security industry started in 1983 at Security Distributing & Marketing magazine where she wrote about all things security until 1990. Following her time there, she continued to freelance in the security industry from 1990. In the meantime, she covered the security and electrical contracting market for EC magazine and then launched their spin-off supplement Security and Life Safety Systems in 2003.
O'Mara will be based in the Chicago editorial offices of Cygnus Security Group along with Managing Editor Greg McConnell and Group Publisher Susan Whitehurst.
"We are extremely pleased to have Deborah take over the editorial reigns of Security Dealer magazine," said Harlick. "Deborah has a vast knowledge and understanding of not only the security market but also the fire market as well. Security Dealer celebrates its 30th anniversary next year and with Debbie now on board we are all looking forward to a very exciting year."
