Mark Ein purchases D.C.-area firm involved in electronic security of corporate facilities

Kastle Systems International, a Washington-D.C.-area firm that has specialized in securing corporate and office buildings, was sold last week to Mark Ein. Ein, a venture capitalist primarily focused on technology businesses. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed

Ein's purchase gives him control of Kastle, which has more than 475 employees and which is securing some 316 million square feet of office space between the U.S. and Australia.

Gene Samburg, who is founder and CEO of Kastle, will still lead Kastle, but said the purchase by Ein gives Kastle added capital to grow the business. The company has embraced integrated electronic security measures, from unified access to remote monitoring of a client's properties via Kastle's numerous security operations centers.

Ein is CEO and founder of investment holding firm VenturehouseHoldings. Prior to Venturehouse Holdings, Ein worked with The Carlyle Group. He helped form such telecommunications powerhouses as Teligent, Aether Systems and American Tower Corporation.
