Skanska to Build a New Biomedical Research Centre in the US

Swedish construction company Skanska said that its US subsidiary Skanska USA Building Inc had won a construction management contract for a biomedical research centre in Baltimore.

Swedish construction company Skanska said that its US subsidiary Skanska USA Building Inc had won a construction management contract for a biomedical research centre in Baltimore.

The contract was awarded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and included a new centre for two of the NIH institutions, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

The project would house biomedical research labs, office space, conference and lobby areas as well as a library and restaurants.

Skanska would also be responsible for constructing a separate building for emergency power, ventilation system and other utilities.

The contract was valued at USD166m.

One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.56 British pounds (GBP).
