MEDFORD, Ore. -- After 10 years of steady growth, the Medford airport is planning a new $35 million terminal and two new hotel complexes.
Construction on the new terminal is scheduled to begin this summer.
Airport Director Bern Case said the various projects are needed to keep pace with a 75 percent increase in passenger traffic over the decade.
The airport has an average 58 flights daily to eight hubs across the West. In 1994, there were just 32 flights in and out of Medford each day, and only two hubs served.
Case said other plans include a 32-acre complex of executive hangars by Jetset Aviation of Nevada that will cater to private jet owners.
Case also said that auto giant Lithia Motors has indicated it might build its corporate headquarters and auto dealerships near the northeast portion of the airport.
