The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) recently announced that it is changing the passing grade for its Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification to 70 percent.
According to a statement issued by the IAHSS, the change took effect on Jan. 1.
IAHSS offers three levels of certification for healthcare security employees including basic, advanced and supervisor certification. Current healthcare security officers and individuals considering work in the healthcare security and safety field are eligible to start the certification process with the basic level or CHSO. Successful completion of the basic certification extends eligibility to progress to the advanced level, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO), and then to the supervisor level, Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS).
"For 35 years, our certification process has proven to be very valuable for our members," said IAHSS Executive Director Evelyn Meserve. "We are pleased to set and meet this academic goal."
