Beijing in Planning Process for 2008 Olympic Security

Committee keeps tight lip on what security is being planned

According to a press statement on the Beijing 2008 Olympics website http://en.beijing-2008.com/, the Olympics committee has begun security preparations for the 2008 Olumpics.

According to the statement, vice secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Qiang Wei will lead the Olympic Security Coordination Group.

At the meeting to begin the security planning, Qiang Wei "said the security group should learn from foreign experience and adopt advanced technology to set a high standard of security for the Games," according to a statement on the Beijing Olympic Committee's website.

No other details were released regarding what is in store for security at the Games.
