$96 Million to Be Spent to Expand Schools in Greenville County, S.C.

Turner Construction Company's North Carolina office was selected to serve as general contractor for a $96 million project for Greenville County School System in Greenville County, S.C. The scope work includes construction of three schools and a Fine Arts Center in the district.

Turner will construct a 250,000-sq.-ft., three-story school to replace the existing Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, S.C. The new high school will be built around the existing building, which will be occupied while construction is underway and later demolished. Turner will also construct a 64,000-sq.-ft. fine arts center on the campus, which will include a theater, 200-seat recital hall, dance studio and classroom space.

Turner will construct a new, 180,000-sq.-ft. Carolina High School in Greenville, S.C., and then demolish the existing buildings to make way for additional parking facilities and baseball and football fields. The Travelers Rest High School project in Travelers Rest, S.C., consists of 240,000-sq.-ft. of new construction, which includes a library, auditorium, biology and chemistry labs, football stadium and athletic fields..TABLE Completion of the schools is scheduled for June 2006.
