Chertoff to Address at ABA White Collar Crime Conference

DHS Secretary to speak at 20th Annual National Institute on White Collar Crime

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 22, 2006 - Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff will present the keynote luncheon address at the 20th Annual National Institute on White Collar Crime 2006, sponsored by the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section. Chertoff will make his remarks at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

Before being appointed to oversee the DHS, Chertoff served as assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division at the Department of Justice, where he helped trace the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the al-Qaeda network. Chertoff has also been involved in major prosecutions of corporate fraud cases, including those related to Enron.

This two-day conference (March 2-3) brings together judges, federal, state and local prosecutors, other law enforcement officials and corporate in-house counsel to discuss topics ranging from criminal antitrust enforcement and money laundering to the role of ethics and corporate compliance in today's business environment.
