CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, announced that the company has expanded its video server offering with three products. The AXIS 241SA Video Server and the AXIS 241QA Video Server integrate two-way audio and high-quality video over IP networks. The AXIS 240Q Video Server is a cost-efficient product available in standalone or blade versions.
The AXIS 241SA and AXIS 241QA are the first video servers to offer de-interlacing video, which improves image quality in 4CIF resolution. This feature corrects interlacing problems that occur when analog cameras cause moving objects to blur.
"Axis' expanded line of video servers provides our customers with more and better options for integrating their existing analog systems with network video systems," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications. "With their improved functionality, these new products support Axis' ongoing efforts to be a major driving force behind the convergence of security and IT."
The AXIS 241SA and AXIS 241QA offer high-quality video at 30 frames a second across each video channel, one audio stream in each direction, and simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 streams. They also offer video motion detection and support for pan/tilt/zoom cameras. The AXIS 241SA digitizes a single analog camera, while the AXIS 241QA accommodates up to four analog cameras. Equipped with a complete set of security features, including multiple user access levels, HTTPS encryption and IP address filtering, both products are designed for demanding surveillance and remote monitoring applications.
The AXIS 240Q digitizes video from up to four analog cameras and provides high-quality video at up to six frames a second per channel. It provides five different resolutions, 11 compression levels, and includes security features such as IP address filtering and HTTPS support. All three products have built-in video motion detection and powerful event management capabilities.
The new video server offerings will be available through Axis' distribution channels in the second quarter. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the AXIS 241QA is $1,399, the AXIS 241SA is $799, and the AXIS 240Q is $799. The AXIS 240Q Blade will be priced at $699.
