AUSTIN, Texas -- NovusEdge, a leading provider of complete physical security solutions, announced today that it has entered into a product distribution agreement with Controlco Automation Distributors, a leading provider of advanced building and plant automation controls. Under the terms of the agreement, Controlco will add the EdgeProtectâ„¢ open standards security solution to its commercial and industrial product portfolio to offer customers a more complete intelligent building automated system (BAS) and physical asset protection solution.
"Customers are beginning to move away from proprietary, sole source vendors for BAS technology in favor of more open, inoperable standards-based systems," said Michael Cation, NovusEdge CEO. "Controlco will increase NovusEdge's product reach and brand awareness in several new markets and will help to demonstrate the immediate value-add of the EdgeProtect Solution."
Controlco is one of the largest building and industrial plant automation solution companies in the U.S. with eight locations throughout California. Controlco offers a full-range of BAS and physical security services including consulting, engineering, installation, training, and maintenance. The company recently installed the EdgeProtect system at its headquarters in Concord, Ca. to demonstrate its interoperability and increased operating efficiency to potential customers.
The EdgeProtect solution is a comprehensive physical security solution for securing assets and mitigating risks associated with people, facilities, equipment and other mission critical assets in office buildings, military bases, campuses, or any diverse or discrete location that contains critical assets. Leveraging the Edge Operating Environment (EOE) architecture that is open and standards-based, the solution operates at the edge of existing networks. Since the intelligence is embedded at the network endpoint, it operates automatically and in real time while reducing impact on network resources.
"We have seen first-hand how the EdgeProtect solution can add system intelligence and remote decision-making capabilities to both the core and to the edge of a physical security and BAS network," said Terry Turner, CEO of Controlco. "System integrators and end users want to exercise greater product choice and future system expansion flexibility when it comes to protecting their employees, physical asset, and business facilities."
