UK adopts CCTV code

The British government recently issued a "Surveillance Camera Code of Practice" that establishes guidelines and best practices for how authorities in England and Wales should use CCTV and automatic number plate recognition systems. The government says the goal of this new code is to ensure that police have the tools they need while also alleviating privacy concerns. The UK's Home Office is also encouraging other surveillance system operators to adopt the guidelines voluntarily.
