Federal investigators have released images of an individual they are seeking to identify in connection with the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA Co-founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Authorities are urging the public to provide information as the investigation intensifies.
The FBI’s Salt Lake City office said the photos were captured near the scene of Wednesday’s shooting, which claimed Kirk’s life during a campus event. Officials emphasized that tips from the community could be critical. “We rely on the public’s help, and no tip is too small or insignificant,” said Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls at a Thursday press conference.
Authorities said the shooter has not been identified and is thought to have escaped into a nearby neighborhood after firing a single round and leaping from a rooftop.
Bohls confirmed investigators have recovered what they believe to be the weapon used in the attack — a high-powered bolt action rifle found in a wooded area where the shooter fled. Additional physical evidence, including a palm print and impressions left in the terrain, is being analyzed by the FBI Laboratory.
More than 130 tips have already been submitted, Bohls said, all of which are being followed up. “I assure you: all leads and tips are being fully investigated,” he noted.
The FBI is asking anyone with photos or video from the shooting to share them through its digital media tip site.Tips or other details can also be reported by (800) CALL-FBI.
