The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Daniel Reichman, Ph.D., and Mark Schreiber as the recipients of the 2026 Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award. They will be recognized at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting on March 24 at ISC West.

Reichman is CEO and chief scientist of Ai-RGUS, an artificial intelligence startup spun out of Duke University. He earned his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from Duke in a program funded by the U.S. Army Research Office and has more than two dozen university publications. Reichman serves on SIA’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board, contributes to SIA’s glossary of AI terms and AI use case guide, and participates in the SIA Startups in Security community.

“I am both honored and humbled to receive the SIA Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award given the magnitude of talented individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with on the AI Advisory Board,” Reichman said, adding that educating peers on the potential of AI is important during what he described as the infancy of the technology.

Schreiber, CPP, CPD, is principal consultant at Safeguards Consulting, a security design and consulting firm in Greenville, S.C. With nearly 30 years in security design and consulting, he regularly speaks and provides training through industry associations including ISC West and ISC East. Schreiber also volunteers with the International Association of Professional Security Consultants, the U.S. CPTED Association and several industry committees and working groups. He is a member of SIA’s Voice of the Industry steering committee for Security Practitioners Advancing Real Conversations (SPARC), SIA’s technical end user forum.

“I am greatly honored by this award and have been impressed by the camaraderie among fellow SIA volunteers as well as the support of SIA staff,” Schreiber said. “The efforts of SIA to support positive changes in the industry have been impressive and I feel that my contributions on behalf of IAPSC and other volunteer efforts were constructive and worthy of my time as a volunteer.”

SIA CEO Don Erickson said Reichman and Schreiber have shown exceptional engagement that benefits SIA members and the broader security community, including Reichman’s work on AI-focused initiatives and Schreiber’s contributions to intelligence reports and learning and development efforts.
