Colin Powell to keynote ASIS 2014: General Colin L. Powell (Ret.) will share leadership insights gained over his 50 years in public service when he delivers the keynote address at the ASIS International 60th Annual Seminar and Exhibits, Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center, in Atlanta. The keynote session is open to all registered attendees.

ASG acquires National Alarm Systems: ASG Security, Beltsville, Md., has acquired National Alarm Systems of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., one of the largest independently owned alarm companies in the Southeast, with more than 9,000 customers and approximately $300,000 in RMR. 

ADT showcases new Pulse features at CES show: ADT unvelied new enhancements to the ADT Pulse home automation system at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES). They included the introduction of a hands-free voice application; a sleek wireless control panel with a touch-friendly user interface; and new features that offer users the ability to control garage doors, ceiling fans and large appliances remotely via the ADT Pulse smartphone app.

NFPA elects new president: The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Board of Directors has voted unanimously to name Jim Pauley of Lexington, Ky., as its next president. Pauley is currently senior vice president of External Affairs and Government Relations for Schneider Electric and will assume his new role in July. 

NSCA honors Advance Technology: The National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) has recognized Advance Technology for its marketing strategies as part of its 2014 Excellence in Business awards.
