Lextech Labs mobile video adds exciting value propositions

Sept. 16, 2010

Mobile video and situational awareness got a big boost this week when Lextech Labs, Lisle, Ill., launched new connectivity options to its video software solution. The company brought the ever-popular Blackberry family of smartphones into the fold of its C3 video surveillance client, which is also available for Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod devices as well as Web browsers.

Recent estimates indicate close to 100 million Blackberry, iPhone, iPad and iPod devices will be sold in 2010, according to Lextech Labs’ Chief Executive Officer Alex Bratton. The Blackberry C3 client, as well as current Lextech Labs smartphone interfaces, enables multiple video streams on the handheld and the ability to view recorded video events and real-time live video feeds concurrently on a split screen. Announced yesterday, the new feature launch, called, LeX-Ray Vision, is available across all of the smartphone platforms.

BlackBerry with LeX-Ray Vision“We’re reinventing part of the industry with this new value proposition for video,” Bratton said. LeX-Ray Vision optimizes situational awareness and investigation by allowing mobile users to view live and recorded video at once, he added. The feature also allows for user control (pan-tilt-zoom) of live video while recorded video is viewed. “With this feature retail, for example, can view real time events and compare it with recorded video in the event of an ongoing investigation. We really feel mobile video is transformative technology that allows for much more than simple security,” he said.
