ESA gives back to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
Irving, Texas (July 13, 2016) – The Electronic Security Association (ESA) has made a point to shine light on first responders and their dedication to the community they protect through the selection of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) as the 2016 ESA Gives Back recipient. ESA raised over $10,000 for NLEOMF at this year’s Electronic Security Expo (ESX) which took place at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, June 8th through 10th.
A tragic incident in Dallas, TX this past Thursday night involved the injury of 13 Dallas Police Department (DPD) officers and the deaths of 5 law enforcement officers, one of which served the Dallas Area Rapid Transit. This ambush and shooting is the deadliest attack for law enforcement since the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Our nation’s law enforcement, especially the DPD, needs our support now more than ever. ESA encourages the electronic security and life safety industry to come together and be a source of strength for all law enforcement.Â
ESA Gives Back is a program designed to engage national and chartered chapter leadership, members, and staff in a collaborative effort to support charitable and philanthropic initiatives. Launched in 2012, ESA Gives Back has aided in raising funds for Wounded Warrior Project (2012), Warrior Dog Foundation (2013), Mission 500 (2014), and the Green Beret Foundation (2015). Since the inaugural year, ESA has contributed over $75,000 to ESA Gives Back recipients.
ESA continued its’ fundraising efforts for NLEOMF at ESX 2016 where ESX attendees, exhibitors and sponsors opened their hearts and wallets for this worthy cause. ESX is THE education and networking event for life safety and security industry professionals. Our industry has a special affinity with law enforcement given the close working relationships between security companies and first responders as well as the fact that many security professionals are former law enforcement officers themselves.
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is a nonprofit organization founded in 1984 with the mission of honoring and remembering the sacrifice law enforcement officers make for the communities they serve. The fund built and maintains the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and monument dedicated to the law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. In 2015, 252 names were added to the 20,000 names already etched into the monument since 1991. ESA would like to thank each and every individual who contributed to this vital program. If you missed ESX or didn’t get a chance to donate please click here to support the law enforcement professionals that respond to our alarms, protect and serve us every day!
Our prayers are with the Dallas Police Department. Â
