INDIANAPOLIS — October 11, 2017 — STANLEY Security has partnered with the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) to offer all Indiana K-12 schools the opportunity to experience ISMHS’s cultural and educational resources throughout 2017. The partnership is helping to finance all field trips and museum admissions, to the Indiana State Museum, along with their 11 historical sites, allowing Indiana students to discover and learn by touching, seeing and doing.
“Partnering with the Indiana State Museum and helping to provide free school field trips is one way we can demonstrate the importance of our children’s future,” said Lisa Law, HRIS Specialist and SGB Community Involvement Leader for STANLEY Security. “The ISMHS impacts more than 60,000 students a year and we are happy to have the opportunity to work alongside them and show the significance of exposing kids to reading, math and science outside of the traditional classroom.”
STANLEY Security is a leading provider of security systems and services for schools in Indiana and across the country. This donation is a commitment to not only keep students safe within their school buildings, but also to further their learning outside the school’s walls.
According to research conducted by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, children who visited a museum during kindergarten had higher achievement scores in reading, mathematics and science than children who did not have the same experience. A similar study promoting the benefits of museums and hands-on learning published in Psychological Science showed that students who physically experience scientific concepts understand them more deeply and score better on science tests. All of these benefits support STANLEY Security and ISMHS’s shared goal of promoting education within their communities.
With the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year in full force, the field trip program will provide students with a hands-on learning experience they might not have inside the classroom. All accredited Indiana K-12 schools qualify for the program, along with home school groups of ten or more.
