ESA National Training School releases 18 new CEU courses

New courses cover networking, mathematics, science, project management, customer service

The Electronic Security Association (ESA) has just added 18 NEW CEU courses to its lineup of CEU offerings. These courses are available now and will help students maintain certifications and licenses.

ESA’s National Training School (NTS) courses and CEU programs are designed to help electronic security and life safety professionals advance in easily accessible and robust ways. With a focus on real-world training, skills learned can be immediately put to use in the workplace.

These CEU courses have already been approved in Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi, with other states currently pending. Please visit the specific course page for state approval information. ESA members have access to exclusive rates on all National Training School courses. 

Here's a list of the courses offered: 

NETWORKING

Residential Networking BasicsDesigned to provide basic level knowledge of working with IPs, understanding routers, network types, and general troubleshooting.

Networking 101 — BasicsProvides students with various ways a network can be constructed and, in general terms, how data is sent from one point to another.

Networking 102 — ProtocolsThis course provides students with various protocols you are likely to encounter when installing and maintaining security and life safety systems on a network.

Networking 103 — Data TransmissionThis CEU course provides students with various mediums that’s a network may use to transmit data.

Networking 104 — HardwareProvides students with the most commonly used networking hardware found in a business environment while also demonstrating how hardware interacts with and communicates through other devices like hubs, routers and switches is important.

Networking 105 — Administration of NetworksThis course equips students with information on the important role administrators play in maintaining a network, as well as security concerns, sources of threats to a network and security measures employed to protect the network.

Networking 106 — Basic Network TroubleshootingThis online course provides students with the basic tools that should be available when troubleshooting, as well as, general techniques that can be used to effectively troubleshoot a system.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Managing Projects EffectivelyThis three-hour online course provides students with techniques related to the security industry professional. This course covers project management approaches, auditing and responsibilities. 

MATHEMATICS

Basic Math for Security ProfessionalsThis course provides students with skills to solve mathematical problems requiring simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and raising numbers to exponential powers; rounding to the correct number of significant figures; calculating percents; reading graphs; and using simple geometric definitions and formulas.

Math RefresherThis course provides an overview of how to use the mathematical formulas associated with the electronic security industry.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Basics of Customer ServiceThis three-hour online course provides students with communication skills, customer service skills and tips to deal with handling difficult customers.  While demonstrating the key skills necessary to dealing with difficult situations while providing the highest possible level of customer service in a professional manner.

SECURITY

Incident Reports for Security ProfessionalsProvides students with information on the considerations that may be needed when preparing and writing an incident report, by presenting facts and details as accurately as possible, while maintaining the integrity of the report is a major consideration.

Physical Science and the Security ProfessionalProvides students with information on how to differentiate between matter, mass, volume and density, and how to distinguish the physical properties and changes of each.

ELECTRICAL

Electronic Theory RefresherProvides a review of the electrical basics required for the installation and maintenance of alarm systems.

WIRELESS SYSTEMS

Wireless Systems 101 — StandardsProvides students with an interpretation of codes and standards which apply to the installation of wireless fire alarm systems.

Wireless Systems 102 — ComponentsProvides students with information on how alarm systems operate using wireless signals and how the components work together.

Wireless Systems 103 — TroubleshootingProvides students with information on performing troubleshooting tasks for wireless intrusion and fire protection systems.
