Mission 500 announces 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility and Humanitarian Award Winners

Miami, FL (March 29, 2016) – Mission 500, a charitable organization engaging security professionals to sponsor children in need here in the U.S. and around the world, has announced the winners of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Humanitarian awards.

The CSR and Humanitarian awards will be presented on April 7, 2016 at ISC West. The presentation will be at 5:00 PM at the Artist Registration Area of the Venetian Hotel. All are welcome.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award

Alliance Security is being honored with the 2016 Mission 500 CSR award, which honors companies in the security industry that dedicate significant volunteer time and resources to help those in need. With a mission to look beyond profits and the bottom line, Alliance Security views building stronger communities as an extension of its responsibility to help better protect families. To that end, the Cranston, RI-based integration firm fosters long-term relationships with non-profits focused in three core areas: ending and preventing domestic violence; bridging the opportunity gap for urban youth; and assisting low-income families.

Employees are involved in all facets of Alliance Security’s non-profit partnerships, including volunteering at organization and community events, and supporting families in need by purchasing, wrapping and delivering toys and clothes to more than 50 children each December.

Perhaps the most significant impact Alliance Security has had on its community is through its efforts in the area of domestic violence. Recognizing the seriousness of domestic violence, the company offers free alarm systems and monitoring to victims through Friends of RICADV, a program the company started to support non-profit Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence. To date, the program has provided more than 55 domestic violence victims statewide with the added security and peace of mind these systems deliver. The financial and personnel support Alliance Security has offered have helped elevate RICADV’s ability to achieve its mission of supporting and enhancing the work of its member agencies and providing leadership on the issue of domestic violence.

Humanitarian Award

Sean Sportun, ISCP is being honored with the 2016 Mission 500 Humanitarian Award, which honors individuals in the security industry who make important contributions to those in need.

In addition to his position as Manager, Security and Loss Prevention, for Mac’s Convenience Stores Inc. Central Division - based in Toronto, Sean is dedicated to community safety in the province of Ontario. He joined the Board of Directors of Toronto Crime Stoppers in 2002 and currently serves as the organization’s Vice Chair.

During his time with Crime Stoppers, Sean has played an integral role in the successful development of programs like Cash for Guns, Awareness on the Sale of Contraband Tobacco to Minors, Student Crime Stoppers, Bank Card Fraud Awareness and Retail Crime Stoppers.

Recognizing the need for the Crime Stoppers message to reach farther into the community as a more a proactive approach to crime, Sean developed and championed a Community Street Team consisting of Board members and student volunteers. Launched in the summer of 2005, the Street Team attended numerous community events, including picnics, town hall meetings and events held in high-crime areas to promote Crime Stoppers and educate the public on ways they can stop crime while remaining anonymous. The initiative has proven highly effective at increasing the number of tips Crime Stoppers receives and enhancing community awareness. Every year since 2004, Sean has helped support this program by serving as chair of Toronto Crime Stoppers’ annual golf tournament. As one of the organization’s major revenue-generating events, the tournament helps sustain the programs’ financial obligations to pay rewards to tipsters.

Most recently, Sean led a partnership with Canadian comic book hero Captain Canuck to raise awareness of community safety across Canada.
