SimpliSafe has announced the Video Doorbell Series 2, which the company describes as its most advanced video doorbell to date. When paired with SimpliSafe Active Guard Outdoor Protection, the device brings live security agent crime deterrence to the front door.

The doorbell uses an AI-powered camera to detect potential threats and alert live, U.S.-based security agents. Agents can view the camera feed, communicate with people at the door through two-way audio and use a loud siren to attempt to deter potential intruders and package thieves. Agents can also request police dispatch and capture video evidence.

This is another step toward making home security more proactive, giving homeowners greater confidence that their home and loved ones are safe, even when they're away."

The Video Doorbell Series 2 provides 2K resolution and an expanded head-to-toe field of view for a more complete view of activity at the door. Enhanced two-way audio supports communication with people at the doorway, while up to five seconds of pre-event capture records activity leading up to an event.

The doorbell also supports dual-band Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Its Smart AI capabilities can detect people and packages, with vehicle detection listed as coming soon. Customers can use customizable Activity Zones to focus detection on specific areas while excluding locations such as roads or neighboring yards.

The device features a black front-face housing with a white LED ring. Color-coded status lights indicate when a monitoring agent or homeowner is speaking, with amber representing an agent and blue representing the homeowner.

Sized for standard 4-inch vinyl siding, the Video Doorbell Series 2 includes adapters for flush and adjustable mounting on most homes. Its matte finish is UV and weather resistant to help prevent fading over the device's lifespan.

SimpliSafe also includes privacy and customer-control features with the new doorbell. Through the SimpliSafe App, customers can customize camera settings and alerts. With select monitoring plans, customers can also choose whether to create a library of familiar faces to help professional monitoring agents identify people expected to be on the property.

The SimpliSafe Video Doorbell Series 2 is available for $199.99 through SimpliSafe.com and select retailers. The device requires a SimpliSafe Base Station and Keypad along with an existing wired doorbell setup with a mechanical or digital chime and compatible transformer. It can be used as part of a SimpliSafe security system with or without a professional monitoring plan.

Access to SimpliSafe Active Guard Outdoor Protection is available through the company's Pro monitoring plan for $49.99 per month or Pro Plus plan for $79.99 per month.
