VOLUNTEERS are needed to act as Big Brother and keep a lookout on the streets of Amber Valley.
Amber Valley Borough Council and Derbyshire Constabulary are looking for people to help operate the CCTV system across the borough.
The role will involve monitoring footage from the CCTV cameras located in Belper, Heanor, Alfreton and Ripley. The volunteers will play a key role in helping reduce crime and the fear of crime, and creating safer communities for those who live and work within the borough.
While the CCTV system records all camera images 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it is the dedicated band of volunteers who provide the day to day support that makes the service responsive to whatever's happening on the high street as it happens.
New volunteers are now needed to help maintain this service, develop strong links with local shopkeepers and support a number of community safety initiatives that are currently being planned.
The posts are based in the CCTV monitoring suite at Derbyshire Constabulary A Division HQ in Ripley. Hours and days of work are completely flexible - volunteers are not required to work a minimum number of hours. Training will be provided and all volunteers will need to undergo security checks.
