LILIN Z2 Series IP Cameras with H.265 Compression

New cameras slash bandwidth and storage requirements by 50 percent

ARCADIA, CA, MAY 20, 2020 -- LILIN announced today its first camera available in North America to adopt High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) or H.265, a new technology that encodes video files twice as efficiently as its predecessor, Advanced Video Coding (AVC), also known as H.264. As a result, the new LILIN Z2R8052EX25 5MP IP bullet camera reduces bandwidth and storage consumption by about 50% without sacrificing image quality or streaming speed.

By incorporating H.265 into the new Z2 series IP cameras, the overall system requires far less bandwidth, so users can expect smoother live feeds and an improved remote viewing experience. Less bandwidth consumption directly equates into less freezing or laggy images because of network speed slowing down. In addition, smaller H.265 video files let users fully optimize storage space without having to pay for additional space in the cloud or purchase external hard drives for an NVR.

Despite growing worldwide demand for IP video surveillance, most organizations still grapple with fundamental challenges in bandwidth and storage. The sheer amount of data generated through video surveillance has spiked from an estimated 566 petabytes per day in 2015 to a staggering 2,500 petabytes this year, according to Technavio. Cameras with H.265, like the LILIN Z2R8052EX25, future proof the design of video surveillance systems for years to come, and go a long way toward helping end-users handle the flood of information.

With Power over Ethernet (PoE), long-range LED illuminators, and versatile mounting options, the LILIN Z2R8052EX25 is suitable for a wide range of surveillance tasks, but is especially effective in delivering ultra HD video where precise detail is needed, such as license plate reading, casino card monitoring or biometric facial recognition. Likewise, in the event a very large area needs to be monitored, the camera's 5MP (2592 x 1944) resolution enables it to replace multiple standard resolution IP cameras, reducing installation cost and time. An IP67-rated environmental housing qualifies the camera for safe outdoor installations where it may be subject to rain, moisture, dust and dirt. It is also IK10-rated for protection against impact, tampering or vandalism. An added sunshield safeguards it against adverse environmental elements plus blocks glare.
