Network cams represent small percentage of market

Report says organizational changes needed
May 19, 2008

Despite growing at four times the rate of the overall surveillance market, network surveillance cameras only represent a small percentage of the industry, according to a recent study by Research and Markets.

The report states that the transition from traditional CCTV surveillance to networked digital surveillance is seen by many in the physical security industry as being "over-hyped" and "under-performing."

For the full impact of network surveillance to be realized, however, the report says that there is a need for organizational change by end users, as well as in the distribution channel.
