NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Federal authorities said Monday they have charged a Nashville woman with making a series of bomb and anthrax threats in letters left at locations around the city.

Piettia Heifner York, 47, was arrested Friday after she was caught on surveillance video dropping off a letter at the Hickory Hollow Mall. She was arrested as she was waiting for a bus.

She was charged in connection with 16 threatening letters.

Investigators said that the letters made bomb threats and frequently contained a white power that now has been identified as baking soda.

The letters were sent to a synagogue, the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center and a showboat the hotel operates and even Police Chief Ronal Serpas.
