Industrial Site in Britain Allows Business Owners to Remotely View Their Businesses

OWNERS of businesses in Exhall's Bayton Road who are worried about break-ins while away from their premises will soon be able to check up on their buildings from their mobile phone.
Bayton Road is the first industrial estate in Britain to introduce the hi-tech security system that hooks up private CCTV cameras to the net and sends a text message to a mobile if something moves.
Business owners will be able to watch the live pictures from their mobile and alert the police if someone is attempting a break-in.
With business owners continually concerned about building security, CW2000, an EU-funded initiative to encourage firms to exploit new technology, is helping step up the battle against crime.
The new generation security system was launched at The Hub, an initiative led by Warwickshire County Council, regional development agency Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund.
CW2000 principal project officer Sam Sharpe said: "Using broadband in this way is an exciting development and one that complements traditional security."
A survey of the 200 companies on the estate confirms the importance of security.
