RENO, Nev. (AP) - Campus police at the University of Nevada, Reno are investigating the disabling of a surveillance camera that was installed after reports of a possible hate crime.
Adam Garcia, university police services director, said surveillance recordings show three men and a woman in the hallway where the camera was set up. He said at least two of the men handled the camera before it was disabled. Garcia said the camera was approved by UNR President John Lilley and installed after a swastika was discovered Dec. 27 on a door in the hallway off the classroom and office building. State law allows "surreptitious electronic surveillance" on campus for a criminal investigation, officials said.
