March Networks and VIVOTEK will demonstrate integrated video surveillance and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for public transportation at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) TRANSform Conference & EXPO 2026, held Oct. 5-7 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
Under the theme “Connected Intelligence: On the Move,” the companies will demonstrate how transit agencies can connect video, AI and operational data across buses, shuttles, rail systems, stations and depots. Demonstrations will include Attribute Search for faster investigations, AI cameras that monitor driver distraction and fatigue and Sleep Mode, which can capture incidents when vehicles are parked and powered down.
“VIVOTEK brings a strong portfolio of AI-powered IP cameras built for demanding transit environments, with the image quality, analytics and value operators need, plus broad integration across the video ecosystem,” said Net Payne, chief sales and marketing officer for the combined March Networks and VIVOTEK organization. “Combined with March Networks’ strength in mobile recording, video management and investigation, we can give transit agencies a more complete view across vehicles, stations, depots and the wider network.”
The companies’ combined portfolios cover onboard and fixed transit environments, providing options for connecting video across transportation networks.
AI Tools for Transit Investigations
The technologies address transit security and operational challenges involving passenger safety, operator behavior, incident investigations, fleet operations and ridership analysis.
Attribute Search enables investigators to search recorded video using visual characteristics such as clothing color and vehicle type. The capability can reduce the time spent manually reviewing footage and help transit agencies locate a person of interest across a station, identify a vehicle associated with an incident or track activity across multiple cameras.
Other AI capabilities include driver fatigue and distraction detection, passenger counting, occupancy analysis, object and zone detection, tampering alerts and vehicle empty checks. Connecting video with GPS, telematics and other operational data can provide additional context about incidents and vehicle activity.
Transit Deployments Across North America and International Markets
March Networks supports some of North America’s largest and most complex public transit systems, including one with a fleet of nearly 2,500 vehicles. The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany, New York, uses March Networks video across fixed-route buses, garages, an administrative and call center facility and the Rensselaer Rail Station.
VIVOTEK deploys more than 100,000 IP cameras annually for onboard transportation applications, including buses, trains and ferries. International deployments include Lillestrøm Bus Terminal in Norway and Bangkok's MRT Red Line.
Integrated Mobile and Fixed Video Technologies
At APTA TRANSform 2026, attendees will see technologies spanning several areas of the combined portfolio.
March Networks RideSafe network video recorders (NVRs) and cameras provide mobile video capabilities for demanding transit environments. VIVOTEK’s transportation and rolling-stock camera portfolios complement these offerings with driver and cabin views onboard vehicles as well as coverage for stations and other fixed environments.
March Networks Command Enterprise Software provides centralized video management across vehicle fleets and fixed facilities. AI Smart Search, Attribute Search and other analytics help teams locate relevant video, while driver monitoring, passenger counting and occupancy analytics support transit-specific applications.
The portfolio also includes cloud-based intelligence and evidence management through Searchlight Cloud and Evidence Vault. Transit agencies can also connect video with access control, cloud storage and other security systems across stations, depots and administrative facilities.
Attendees can visit March Networks at booth 3220 and VIVOTEK at booth 3858 to see technologies supporting connected, AI-powered transit security across mobile and fixed environments.
