Camera offers auto day/night functions, two-way audio feature, simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG compression

CHELMSFORD, Mass. – Axis Communications, the recognized global leader in the network video market, announced today the AXIS 214 Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) Network Camera, a high performance camera for professional surveillance and remote monitoring.  The AXIS 214 PTZ combines a high-quality color camera with the flexibility of remote pan/tilt/zoom functions.  The camera’s range enables it to cover a wide field of view, making it ideal for use in mid-sized businesses.

The AXIS 214 PTZ is a high-quality camera with automatic day/night functionality.  This provides perfect color video in low-light conditions and sharp black-and-white video in extremely dark conditions.  The camera’s synchronized two-way audio feature enables remote users to listen to and speak with visitors or intruders.

“A PTZ network camera is a cost-efficient moveable camera because no additional wiring is required as with analog systems,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications.  “The AXIS 214 PTZ further widens Axis’ network camera offering with a high-quality camera at an aggressive price point.”

The AXIS 214 PTZ incorporates an 18x optical motorized lens and a 12x digital zoom with auto focus, which allows users to zoom in on small or distant objects with exceptional clarity.  The network camera has built-in motion detection and simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG compression to optimize storage and viewing capabilities.  It also provides pre- and post-alarm image buffering, and alarm notifications for scheduled or triggered events.

The AXIS 214PTZ is now available through Axis’ distribution channels.  The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the camera is $1,299.
