Axis Introduces Fixed Dome Network Camera for Professional Video Surveillance
CHELMSFORD, Mass. - Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, announced today the AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera, a high performance camera offering progressive scan, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and an integrated heater. The network camera has a vandal-resistant, outdoor-proof design that makes it ideal for prisons, campuses, parking garages, railway stations, and other environments where impact resistance and weatherproofing is required.
The AXIS 225FD utilizes simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video compression to optimize both video quality and bandwidth consumption. It also has PoE functionality, according to the IEEE 802.3af standard, which reduces installation costs and consolidates the power source to a central location. The day and night camera uses an automatically removable infrared filter that enables high-quality images under all lighting conditions, including color video in high- and low-light conditions and black-and-white video in dark conditions.
"The AXIS 225FD is Axis' first fixed dome network camera, which provides our professional-level customers with increased choice and flexibility," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications. "Axis has seen an increased need for network cameras in harsh environments, and the AXIS 225FD has been specifically designed to meet those demands."
The AXIS 225FD uses a progressive scan CCD image sensor that enables moving images to be presented without distortion or blur up to 30 frames per second in VGA resolution. It also offers the highest security measures through the use of multi-level password protection, IP address filtering and HTTPS encryption. Available accessories include ceiling-mount brackets for installation on indoor ceilings and smoked glass for increased discretion.
The AXIS 225FD is supported by the industry's largest base of application software through the Axis ADP program. The network camera will be available through Axis' distribution channels in Q4 2005, for the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,099.
