IRVINE, CALIFORNIA, August 19, 2005 — Underscoring its ability to provide hospitals, schools and the United States security marketplace at large with an enterprise-grade DVR that is flexible and powerful, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc. announced that its DX-TL5000U has been installed at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). CHOC is one of the largest children's hospitals in Southern California and is renowned for its efforts in the fight against cancer.
The hospital operates a large, integrated security system with its satellite hospital in Mission Viejo. The facilities use more than 100 cameras and are currently under major construction for expansion. Prior to acquiring the DX-TL5000U, CHOC had been recording the camera feeds to a tape-based system, which has been discontinued. The hospital wanted to expand into networked digital recording and turned to Alex Pavlis at Henry Brothers Electronics for the solution. Located in the city of Orange, Calif., CHOC and its sister hospital have had their extensive security needs serviced by Henry Brothers Electronics for years.
"We selected the DX-TL5000U because it was a high end system with superb video quality that was easy to operate," said Pavlis. "The intuitive digital functions and easy software allows simple interface so operators can use it in an analog fashion while maintaining the high quality digital recording and features."
Those digital features include the ability to network DVRs through the security nerve center and to set picture resolution. One of the problems some current DVRs present to security operations is that they permit only one slow record speed or one global setting for recording across all inputs.
The DX-TL5000U at CHOC offers blazing speeds of 960 pictures per second for live images and 240 PPS for recorded images. It also permits each of the 16 video inputs to be set individually for the most efficient allocation of resources and the highest quality imaging at their central security station in Orange, which also handles all alarms, surveillance and access control.
Henry Bros Electronics, Inc. is a subsidiary of Diversified Security Solutions, Inc. (AMEX:DVS) and has offices in Fullerton, Calif.; Phoenix; Saddle Brook, NJ; and Grand Prairie, Texas, providing technology-based integrated electronic security systems, services and emergency preparedness consultation to commercial enterprises and government agencies.
