MONTRÉAL, March 31, 2015—At ISC West 2015, on booth # 10 053, Genetec, a manufacturer of unified IP security solutions, will unveil Security Center 5.3. This latest version of the company’s open-platform security system software will offer an array of new features encompassing IP video management, access control and automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) systems. The leading areas of focus will include simplified tools for security investigations that promote collaboration and information sharing between operators and public and private organizations, along with features that optimize the use of existing hardware resources to better equip organizations to secure their people and assets. Security Center 5.3 is expected to be available to Genetec channel partners and end-users in Q2 2015.
With the growing adoption of multi-megapixel cameras and introduction of 4k devices, Security Center 5.3 will greatly improve system performance when managing high-resolution video streams. Through the use of hardware-accelerated video decoding, Security Center 5.3 will leverage workstation graphics cards and embedded graphics processing units (GPU) to decode video and reduce processing demand on the CPU. With affordable, off-the-shelf graphics cards, organizations can now minimize their need to purchase new workstations, as they deploy higher resolution cameras within their system. Operators will also have the flexibility to view more cameras, at higher resolutions and frame rates, while also benefiting from greater playback fluidity when reviewing video.
Security Center 5.3 will also introduce an enhanced investigation and video export workflow that simplifies evidence sharing with investigators and law enforcement. With the new Incident Recording feature, operators will be able to easily record video sequences from multiple cameras to storyboard an incident from beginning to end, and then seamlessly export them into a single video clip for review by other investigators. Exported incidents can be reviewed in the enhanced Genetec Video Player, eliminating the need for a full client application, while ensuring the authenticity of watermarked video.
In an on-going commitment to provide greater flexibility to manage archived video, Security Center 5.3 will introduce the new Archive Transfer feature, enabling organizations to dynamically manage the Archiver where video recordings are stored, to optimize their use of hardware and reduce storage costs. Extending video retention periods or to transfer redundant archives to the cloud is also made possible through the newly available Genetec Cloud Archives service, allowing customers to easily increase their storage capacity, without the need to purchase additional on-site servers.
For physical access control, Security Center 5.3 will offer a variety of new functionalities that will give organizations greater oversight when securing access in their facilities. Enhancements will include:
- New First-Person-In rules that provide granular control of access points when supervising staff is not on-site
- Two-Person rules to mandate multiple cardholders when badging into higher security rooms
- Visitor Escort mode that requires visitors be accompanied by staff when moving through a facility
Security Center 5.3 will also support 256-bit custom card formats, empowering organizations to better leverage smart card technology with more advanced and secure card formats.
The Genetec Federation feature in Security Center has been implemented across many organizations to centrally monitor remote independent sites equipped with video, access control, and intrusion systems. Security Center 5.3 will extend these capabilities with support of AutoVu ALPR systems within a federated environment, providing the ability to share license plate recognition data and entities between independent sites. ALPR Federation will also facilitate sharing data between private and public agencies, while providing participating organizations with full control over what information is shared while maintaining all license plate data stored in their local system.
